About Me, Garrett
How did this happen?
A few years ago, my life stopped making sense. And so I went searching for some sense in other places around the world.
Hi, I'm Garrett. A coherence practitioner who has developed a presence-based framework through lived experience and previous systems work, and leadership facilitation across sectors and cultures. It is a big shift and yet a natural one.
The impetus was the increasing incoherence in a life that seemed more and more like a microcosm of what was happening in the world at large.
Over the years prior to 2022, life had become more challenging, but I was managing through it - until suddenly I couldn't.
Nothing I could do, or knew how to do, would solve what needed to be solved. The struggle I was feeling seemed to be sliding into greater struggle. I was looking at one predicament after another - there was no apparent solution, no underlying meaning, just chaos.
So I left. Not gradually. Not strategically. I extracted myself because staying was no longer possible.
What followed was years of presence in forests, deserts, coastlines, and mountains. Not seeking answers. Just being. Letting go of the mental models I'd used to make sense of the world so I could actually see the world. Feel it. Move through it. As it is.
From that presence, four orientations emerged:
Truth. The commitment to see what's actually there, not what I want to be there or what I've been told is there.
Connection. The recognition that I exist in relationship - with people, with place, with the living systems that sustain me.
Freedom. The capacity to move, to choose, to not be captured by the deals that promise safety in exchange for aliveness.
Adventure. The willingness to step into uncertainty, to explore terrain without knowing what I'll find.

These aren't values I adopted. They simply surfaced when I stopped trying to manufacture the responses recommended by society - and let it emerge naturally. They may just be what humans have oriented by for hundreds of thousands of years - before our systems taught us to override them.

For almost fifteen years, I've been watching the cracks form across those same systems - as they continue with increasing incoherence with the life systems they depend on. During this period, I worked with executives and organizations on leadership, culture, and sustainability - work that offered me a foundation for what has evolved over these last years of journeying. A framework for understanding life and our part in it - grounded in presence with the reality surrounding us.
But this understanding and framework didn't come from analysis. It came from collapse. From walking alone. From finding presence in a world that is offering no guarantees.
The Coherence Project is where that understanding lives. It's my attempt to articulate what I've felt and seen - not as prescription, but as orientation. A Framework for anyone else who senses the ground shifting and wants to move through it with something more reliable than the stories we've been given.
